The most beautiful place on earth!

I have spent the last two days in the most beautiful place on earth! Pictures just cannot do justice to the Swiss Alps. We've seen the most amazing waterfalls, mountain peaks, and wildflowers. We have been on cable cars up the steepest slopes. Imagine the massive white peaks jutting above the green valleys and pastures, and everywhere you walk you can hear the sound of cowbells. It is unbelievable! If only my mom were here to yodel, it would be perfect!!

Small World!

I usually run into people that I know when I go places, but I would have never thought that it would happen in Salzburg! But wouldn't you know it, at 10:30 at night, in a small internet cafe in the not-so-small Salzburg, Austria, I ran into my good friend and former roommate, Karen Hornberger. I knew that she was also in Europe, but we had no idea where one another was. We were shocked to see each other and it was so fun! It couldn't be coincidental that we ran into one another. I mean what are the chances?!

Salzburg

So Mandy and I have become Sound of Music groupies since coming to Salzburg. The city is beautiful and full of original sights from the movie. Here are a few of the places you may recognize if you remember the movie...and don't worry, we've been singing all the songs as we visit each place! Let's see if you can figure out where we are from the movie based on the following photos and captions.

"The hills are alive, with the sound of music!"

"How do you solve a problem like Maria? How do you catch a cloud and pin it down?"

"I have confidence in sunshine. I have confidence in rain."

"I am sixteen, going on seventeen. Fellows will fall in line."

"Doe, a deer, a female deer; Ray, a drop of golden sun; Me, a name I call myself; Fa, a long, long way to run."

"Raindrops on roses and whiskers on kittens; bright copper kettles and warm woolen mittens."

"High on the hill was a lonely goat herd, lady-o-da-lady-o-da-lay-hee, who"

Hotter than *&##!!!!

Today after church, we went on a tour of Munich. The weather has been so incredibly hot; it's been somewhat miserable. Good thing that Munich is such a beautiful place to make it all worth it...I think!

Church was wonderful!

Happy to be on our tour.

Searching for shade!

Desperately looking for a way to cool down!

My favorite picture of the day!

Most beautiful sight!

Today I was able to attend the temple. It is located in Friedrichsdorf, just outside of Frankfurt. As I walked through the town, the site of the angel Moroni was the most welcome thing I've seen! The spirit was very strong there, and I have to admit that I was overcome with emotion. As I walked through the temple grounds I could feel the strong spirit of the German people whom I have grown to love and felt an even stronger connection to my great grandparents who joined the church here. Seeing the temple in the middle of the town was the most beautiful sight I've yet to see!

P.S. The second most beautiful sight I've seen is my friend, Mandy, who arrived this afternoon!
